Winner

Westine totaled 77 wins during September.

September's Streak for the Cash monthly contest came down to the final matchup to claim a winner. With the San Francisco Giants' 4-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on September 30th, Sven Westine, also known as swestine, won for the 77th time in September, earning him the $2,500 prize.

Going into the final day of the month, there was a three-way tie for first place and that's when Westine began to get nervous. Going against public opinion, he chose the United Arab Emirates over Honduras in the afternoon soccer match and won, but then lost a heartbreaker when he picked Joba Chamberlain to get the win over the Royals. That's when it came down to the biggest pick of his Streak career, going with the Giants, and now Westine has the money to spend on home improvements and repairs.

Westine has been all over the country, first growing up in San Antonio, Texas, then going to college in Grinnell, Iowa., and now resides with his wife and children in South Park, Penn., where he works as a lead systems analyst.

As a fan of ESPN "pick'em" games, Westine was instantly hooked when Streak for the Cash came out and has been playing fervently ever since.

"I always liked picking games, it makes watching games where there is no rooting interest much more interesting," Westine said.

Like many winners before him, Westine's strategy was to pick as many games as possible, therefore it was key to pick the ones with the shortest time length. He did a good amount of research and always made sure he was around his computer or phone to make the necessary picks.

"I never really looked into total wins until the end, it was more just watching who was around me in the standings and seeing who they picked," Westine added.

When it came to research, he looked heavily into golf and soccer matchups. On the links, he looked at who was playing best of late, and with soccer it came down to who was playing well at the time and how each team played at home or on the road.

As an avid fantasy player, Westine is constantly on ESPN.com playing Pigskin Pick'em, College Pick'em, Eliminator and, his favorite, the Tournament Challenge every March.

Westine wanted to thank all the people who sent messages of congratulations and the people who pulled for him to win this month.
